[Linux-ham] convers node

I never played much with TheNET. I don't recall BPQ having convers built
into it, but it has been ages ago. I was going to try and get TPP or the
like going again but haven't been able to find the sources. The closest
I got was
http://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/apps/ham/convers/!INDEX.short.html but the
links were all 500. (Just tried it again a few minutes ago and got a
download. More tinkering required.)

As far as I know, around here the only packet is APRS with a tiny
smattering of WinLink gateways. Interestingly, a few months ago I went
looking to see if there were any of the old networks still around and
came across the guy who ran the big node NE of Raleigh selling off all
his gear.

Perhaps we should pick one of the old packet channels, say 145.03 (I
suggest only because I have an old xtal rig with that in it from back in
Ohio) and build up a little test network. Maybe from there we can
upgrade to more modern technologies to get a backbone going again.
