Abstract:

All modern IT departments are faced at some point with the question of
to do, or not do, Linux. This Free (both in terms of $$ and of freedom)
operating system has technical capabilities and an applications base
which are highly seductive to applications vendors and IT departments
alike.

Often, Linux can be sampled at little or no cost to an IT department
with a spare PC, and the cost of a download. Red Hat is now changing
this model with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and "The Fedora Project". The
line between an enterprise linux and free software has been reinvented.
Come hear Jeremy Hogan of Red Hat explain the features of the new Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and the revenue model being pursued by Red Hat,
Inc. For a sampling of these and other questions, visit
http://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/faq/ .

Bio:

Jeremy Hogan has been with Red Hat for over three years, starting in
install support, moving to high level support and services for companies
like Amazon, AOL, Pixar and HP, before moving to marketing. When not on
tour spreading the good word, Jeremy spends most of his time in
newsgroups, mailing lists and on IRC in his flameproof suit while trying
to make sure more people like Red Hat than hate it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The meeting time has been changed to 7pm. Please plan
your arrival later than 6:30pm, as there may be a group using Dreyfus
