Topic: IPSec-based and SSL-based VPNs
Speaker: Lisa Lorenzin, Juniper Technologies
7:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2005

Dreyfus Auditorium
RTI International
Research Triangle Park, NC

Bio: Lisa Lorenzin has been working in the information security field for
eight years and is currently a Senior Systems Engineer for Juniper
Networks, a leading developer of ASIC-based Internet security
systems and appliances. Her experience in the enterprise (BCBSNC) and
service provider (InterLan / Utenzi) arenas has allowed her to explore the
advantages and disadvantages of various types of VPNs.

Abstract: Providing secure external access to internal resources has
grown into a
critical requirement for network-connected organizations, often making the
difference between those companies that are successful and those that are
not. Two flavors of Virtual Private Network address that requirement
today: IPSec-based VPNs and SSL-based VPNs. Understanding the
similarities and differences, advantages and disadvantages of each type of
VPN will enable organizations to deploy them most effectively and provide
their offices and users secure, ubiquitous availability to the network to
support the overall success of the organization.

Doors open at 6:30pm and this meeting is expected to end by 9:00pm.
