Buying Books

Folks;

Thanks to you all for the great suggestions on where to buy books. You are
right, there is a huge difference in price between the bookstores and the
'net sources. Prices even vary dramatically between Barnes and Noble and
bn.com (their own 'net presence). It is surprising: $20 difference was
mentioned and I have to concur. I saw similar with the books I'm looking at,
which is a huge deal, 30-50% deltas in cost.

Lots of sites are offering free or very cheap shipping. This is significant
and I found it as a result of your suggestions. I'll probably buy from
someone on the 'net with this deal. Barnes and Noble will give you the 'net
price, and $3.99 shipping, if you walk into their stores and order a book to
be dropshipped to your home. But NO ONE I've found will compete with the
'net for a book that's already on their shelf. If you buy it there, you pay
their price.

I'm not going to buy locally, I'll definitely buy off the 'net, probably
Friday the 12th. If anyone wishes, I'd be glad to summarise the suggestions
and the results of the transaction to the group when it's completed.
