|Personally, I like HID Wiegand mini-prox readers with the numbers stamped
|on
|the cards for simple stuff. They just work well and are flexible enough to
|mix and match other cards people might want to use.
|
|That said, I've reviewed several systems from several vendors and worked
|with a couple of installers over the years. There are a few local choices
|to consider like Sonitrol, Alerts Plus, SSI... etc. for doing install
|unless
|you have some time to spare on DIY.
*****
Spare time? Not a chance.
|The bigger questions are:
|do have room for panels/cans
*****
Yes. Not a problem.
|do you need bio support
*****
No.
|do you need to export entries
*****
No.
|do you have a dedicated PC ready to run software if needed
*****
One can be purchased.
|do you need to access via TCP/IP
*****
On the nice-to-have-but-not-required list.
|do you have analog phone line you can put in place
*****
I wasn't planning on having any analog lines, but it wouldn't be a major
problem if I had to add one. What exactly would it be used for? This
system will likely not tie into the security system which as I understand it
has already been chosen.
|are you allowed to cut into the building
*****
Something I'll have to check into. I'm guessing we can't do anything major.
Mounting hardware and a small hole to pass a cable through would probably be
all we could get away with. But I'll check to make sure. Again, I'm not
sure what we would be cutting for.
|etc...
