I'd forgotten that one.

The original reason was that I didn't want them to be able to take up the
whole partition, which would reek havoc for the linux machine using the
same partition. But I've just put in a new disk and carved out a separate
partition and they can have the whole thing and hadn't thought about it
again.

Lemme try that... yes works just fine.
