Description Of Work:
The primary role of this position will be implementation, support and administration for all of the Solaris
and AIX servers hosted by ITS. This position will also serve as 2nd/3rd
level support for system administration functions across all systems but with an emphasis on consolidated systems at the two
primary ITS datacenters. Administer and support Solaris and AIX based
systems installed at ITS and client locations. Create and maintain
technical documentation and procedures for System Administration support. Manage and ensure availability and performance of SAP systems. Work with the Engineering team to evaluate Solaris and AIX software and hardware to determine the best solutions to meet specialized
application hosting requirements. Support SAN location to Solaris and AIX servers, and inter-connectivity of Solaris, AIX,
Linux, Windows and mainframe systems. Perform after hours support on a
rotational basis.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Applicants must have detailed
knowledge of UNIX architecture within an enterprise network. Must be
skilled in server setup, installation, maintenance, backup and restore,
performance monitoring, and problem resolution in an enterprise
environment. Must be skilled with Solaris Cluster HA virtual environments.
Experience with Designing & Installation of various SAP System
Landscapes. Experience in SAP Application, Server, and DB Migration
required. Experience working in a Cluster environment is a must. Experience managing Production SAP landscapes is a must. Experience
with BRToolset (BRBackup, BRRestore) is a plus. Work experience in DR is an additional advantage. Should have experience in a Multi system
Environment (Solaris, AIX Windows, Linux, OS390). Perform OS version upgrades including experience with Solaris live
upgrade. Ability to write shell scripts to automate system
administration tasks. Ability to coordinate resolution of unplanned
system outages and interruptions. Management prefers a minimum of five years Solaris experience with two years experience in SAP.
Training & Experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field and three years of experience in operations
analysis and design, systems programming, or a closely related field. Experience in the field of work related to the position's role
may be substituted on a year-for-year basis . ITS has a Career Banded
compensation plan which encourages and rewards competency development.
Recruitment for the position will target the Advanced Level of the Networking Specialist Band. An additional year
and a half of progressively related experience is required for each
level above Contributing. Salary range for this position is $75,789 -
$109,305 and will be commensurate with the applicant s competencies, as well as budget, equity and market considerations. If no candidates are identified at the Advanced competency level,
management may consider candidates at the Journey competency level. For
purposes of State Promotional Priority, this vacancy posting will be treated as a salary grade 82 and 84. Degrees must be
from appropriately accredited institutions.
