Having recently done an oracle on linux install, I can talk about this
a little.

Make it *BIG*. Lots of disk, lots of RAM. Oracle is a pig when it
comes to RAM and Disk. But it seems pretty good with CPU, supprisingly
enough.

Read the Oracle Docs carefully, then go hunting for other docs. If I
hadn't lost my bookmark list, I'd have a plethora for you.

Use RedHat or SuSE.

You may have to install it a few times to get it right. I know I did.

Good luck, and if you need any help when the system gets here, wel,
you know where to find me *grin*
