not really.  You could do make xconfig and it would use the .config as a
starting point if you wanted to change something.

make oldconfig is mostly for using an old config with a newer kernel, it
just asks you the new stuff.  There isn't really alot of point in
compiling your own kernel with the default .config as well...you get
what you already had..
