[TriLUG] RedHat CD install hangs

I was able to install linux on to a test machine earlier by booting
off the RedHat CD. The cdrom drive was on it's own ide channel w/ a
std ide cable. Now I want to re-install to a new drive but I have
moved the cdrom to the slave of the primary ide ( ultra dma ) channel
and it's hooked up via an ata100 cable. I can still boot off the cd,
but it hangs after selection of the install type ( custom ).

I found something on redhat's site about this. It's a bug fixed in
one of the kernel updates, but I'm still so new to this, I'm not sure
a kernal update is what I need at this point. I have tried booting
from a boot disk, but that still leaves me hung up when trying to
read from the CD. I have seen posts to RedHat that hint I will still
have problems mounting my CD even if I get it installed.

I tried disabling dma in the bios, but that didn't help. I saw
mention of a "ide1=nodma" but the person said that didn't work. What
is the proper work around for installing/using your cdrom drive if
it's connected to a ultra dma controller.

Spec's:
Trying to install RedHat linux 7.1
Mom board is abit kg7
cdrom drive is an old toshiba 8x

install hangs right after choosing the type of install.

Thx in advance!!
