Sorry, the lkml archives? I'm still concider myself a "newbie" even though
I've been using Linux for 3 years.

Umm... using stock 2.4.9 is probably not a very good idea... but if you
go back to the lkml archives for back when 2.4.9 was released, you
should be able to find the patch that fixes teh compile.
