was this a desktop or laptop?

when i have my laptop in a docking station the old default x configuration
works. from what i can tell it is just to use the lcd on the laptop that
you have to use the nvidia drivers. on desktop systems i think you might
be able to get better performance out of your card if you installed the
driver.
