That's how this all got started. All I was trying to do originally
was update the openssh stuff. When I do as you suggest, I got:
[root at dogbert updates]# rpm -Fvh --test openssh*.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
libcrypto.so.1 is needed by openssh-2.9p2-11.7
libcrypto.so.1 is needed by openssh-clients-2.9p2-11.7
libcrypto.so.1 is needed by openssh-server-2.9p2-11.7
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2.4) is needed by
openssh-server-2.9p2-11.7
[root at dogbert updates]#
That lead to trying an update of openssl ( b/c it includes that
libcrypto.so.1 ), but that gets me:
[root at dogbert updates]# rpm -Fvh --test openssl*.rpm
error: failed dependencies:

So, I have this RedHat 7.1 box that I can't seem to get updated at
all. There have been suggestions to do:
rpm --rebuild openssh-xxxx.src.rpm
but what do I do if I want to get this puppy up to date across the
board.??? It seems I can work w/ source rpms from here out or try an
up2date. I tried an upgrade to RH 7.2, and it was unsuccessful.
FYI, this is a Dell PowerApp 120 that came pre-configured w/ RH 7.1
and a lot of other stuff ( apache, ... ). Even though the mgmt
utilities are nice for a newby like myself, I should have just built
something from scratch...
:-(
