I am no expert on the subject and I don't have my linux box here to play 
with... But, from what I know anything after the double dash is passed 
to X. One option that I think might work is:
X -quiet -query solaris.server.name
It was mentioned in one of the replies to the original post. You might 
also want to add the :1 (the display number) to the above. So, you would 
end up with:
X :1 -quiet -query solaris.server.name
