[TriLUG] Unattended start of xdm

I am using XDM/XDMCP to connnect some NCD terminals to an RH 7.2 machine

and I would like for Linux to automatically start XDM and accept XDMCP
requests on bootup. This seems like it should be simple enough but I am

stuck. I have everything configured and working fine in runlevel 3 but
I have to login as root and manually start XDM from the prompt. When I
change to runlevel 5, the server does not accept XDMCP requests. The
documentation I found at
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.1-Manual/zseries-install-guide/s1-guimode-sysadmin.html

does not seem to do the trick either. I'm sure that I am missing
something simple but I can't figure it out. Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated.
