I have a Sony Vaio laptop that had the exact same problem (well,
left side, instead of right). I took it to a local shop in Raleigh,
but I can't seem to find its name right now. It was listed on
Sony's website as an authorized sony repair shop and I remember
I took the nothern beltline and got off somewhere about directly
north of raleigh and went south for about a mile... (Capital
Blvd, maybe?!?). The place took 5.5 weeks to fix the laptop,
mainly because they had to order the drafting schematics for
the laptop so they could figure out the right parts to order.
If you're laptop is similar to mine, they have them now, and
most likely would take less time. (I have a Sony Vaio PCG-F280.)

They fixed the laptop ok, but my battery has since gone
completely dead (won't recharge). I don't know that it was
anything they did, but it was fine beforehand...

I'll keep looking around and see if I can find the name/phone number
of the place, if you're interested...
