I think you miss the point about Debian... Debian is a rock solid 
distribution.  It is also extremely easy to maintain.  With these two primary 
goals, it is no wonder that Debian does not glide along the cutting edge.

Debian provides secure and stable systems that work.  

If on the otherhand you want cutting edge latest and greatest - check out the 
Mandrake cooker releases...
