I'll be on travel but back soon. How do I become involved?

Subject: [TriLUG] [Trilug-announce] Second Annual TriLUG Eat 'n Geek!

The second annual TriLUG Installfest will be Saturday, May 11. Please
mark your calendars!

The location will be Durham Technical Community College in eastern
Durham -- just a few miles from our normal meeting location at RTI. The
time will be approximately 12noon to 5pm.

There following will be available: Mandrake, Red Hat, Immunix, Gentoo,
Texstar, StarOffice 6 beta, KDE3 and Samba, Linux Kernel 2.2 and 2.4,
the whole GNU project, OpenBSD 3.0-release and 3.1-current;
architectures: Intel, Alpha, Sparc; if you have an Amiga...well maybe
there won't be so much to choose from.

Bring blank CDs and your computer and networking gear if you have it.
Get started...or unstuck...with Open Source and Linux. You'll get direct
hands-on help from the pros and you'll meet TriLUGger's - whose on-line
help beats any 800 customer service from those alternative and expensive
closed software vendors.

You do not need to bring your monitor, keyboard, or mouse; standard
equipment will be available on site. However, if you have other
peripherals, such as USB hardware, printers to set up, speakers, etc --
please bring those with you. Before coming to the Installfest, please be
sure to backup important documents and data, disable MS Windows swap
space, and defrag your hard disk twice.

The Installfest will be held on the main campus of Durham Technical
Community College, in room 438 of the Newton building (directions are
at http://www.trilug.org/dtcc_directions.php). (If you get lost, please
feel free to call Jeremy at 244-8115.)

All TriLUG members are encouraged to attend. Experienced users can help
the newbies, or just hang out. Newbies can soak in the intense Linux and
open source atmosphere, and learn a lot, too. There will be plenty of
geekdom for all! Bring a snack to share, as this will be an "Eat and
Geek" event. (Drinks will be provided.)

If you wish to have Linux installed on your computer, please fill out
the registration form (at http://www.trilug.org/if_registration.php).
But registration is NOT necessary to attend, it just helps us plan.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone there!
