While it isn't that much to assume people can search google for 
something, it's also polite to give a frame of reference, or even
better, a website.  I personally have never heard of Greenshields
before this thread, so I disagree that "most people familiar with
the Triangle have heard of this place before."  I think it's more
likely that "most people familiar with Raleigh who drink have
heard of this place before".  

That said, I think a simple question of "What/where is greenshields?"
would have been a better way of approaching the subject than a
rant.  Also, it is accepted convention on the net that all caps
means shouting.  It may have meant something else when everyone
used typewriters, but as my language teachers always stressed,
the meaning of a word moves towards its usage.  If you didn't
realize it before, that's fine, but please do realize it now.
If you want to place emphasis around words in an e-mail, one
good convention in use today is to *surround the phrase with
asteriks* (hopefully spelled better than I did :).  It gets
the point across without making people think you're shouting.

And perhaps this entire thing could have been prevented if
detailed directions had been provided in the first place, but
that's water under the bridge now.
