I guess that you use WineX 'cause the Direc3D/OpenGL stuff

Do you have "user" permissions on the OpenGL device?

There should be permissions like 0660 on the dri device, stated on the 
/etc/X11/XFree86Config-4 file (probably: depends on your distro).

How is your XFree file?
