[TriLUG] why run open source OS on oddball old hardware?(LONGDIATRIBE) (off-topic)

The really surprising thing about an E10K box is that you'll find it on
epinions.com...
http://www.epinions.com/enth-Servers-All-Sun_Enterprise_10000

Which is where I ended up while trying to find a photograph of the box.

If you guys don't mind going too off-topic, maybe you could relate the
physically largest (and rank by most interesting or esoteric) machine you
have running in your abode regardless of operating system. I don't have
anything fitting this category, as all my boxes are Intel based, save the
PowerMac 7500/100. You score major points if you had to run three phase
power and somewhat less but still interesting points if you had to install a
30amp twist-lock socket to run it.

I'd think it interesting to simply have three auto-loading reel-to-reel tape
drives in my spare bedroom, in test mode, whirring away for no particular
reason than atmosphere.
