On a side note, I use SmartMedia instead.  The reader I have is about
the size of one of the keyring fobs, I had a number of low capacity
SmartMedia cards around from an old camera, and it works great for me. 
A SmartMedia reader can be had for $10-$20, and a small capacity (8M)
card for about the same - and the card is thin enough to go into my
wallet.  My Palm is in there too, so the card is as rugged as my Palm,
but it does get treated with some respect.
