Apps should run under either KDE or gnome no matter which desktop you
have running at the moment.  If an application requires something that 
isn't running, it will load it (for the most part) which means that
you may get slower load times and strange behavior (try running konqueror
in gnome, you KDE desktop icons will show up).

So, to answer your question, if an application runs to your satisfaction
there is not reason not to use it in whatever enviroment you like.
