Question...can you use this to transfer TO the camera? Sort of a usb
portable drive?

With the GFs Canon G2 I just plug its USB cable into the laptop and my stock
RedHat install pulls everything right off with gphoto2 (I think).  Very
handy and much better than doing in on windows where I have to go to the
canon site and download drivers and schtuff.
