[TriLUG] More font weirdness in RH 8.0

Ok something has me stumped.  In RH when ever I have my laptop docked at
work running 1600x1200 resolution fonts in Mozilla are beautiful, when
I'm just using the laptops LCD at 1400x1050 the fonts are beautiful, but
when I'm docked at home running 1280x1024 the fonts in Mozilla look
horrible.  Any ideas on what the deal is?  I've looked at my XF86Config
files and besides the monitor and max res they are the same.  I believe
AA fonts are working, and I even have the MS fonts installed.  Evolution
seems to look fine, as well as OpenOffice 1.0.1 and StarOffice 6.0. 
Basically text looks scrunched on blocky.   Also when I ctrl+ a couple
of times the fonts have a major case of the jagies.  I didn't see
anything that really fit my problem in my search through the archives,
and so far everything I found through google relates to bad fonts all
the time, not just at low resolutions.  I haven't tried below 1280x1024
yet.  Thanks for any help.
