Good evening/morning/afternoon,

As you may recall, TriLUG will be having a special election for the
Steering Committee at our November 14 meeting. The current SC's
longest-serving member, Kevin Sonney, chair, will be stepping down --
see
http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20021021/011530.html
. Kevin asked me to send out this message with information about the
special election.

To vote in the election, you must be present at the meeting. Only
registered members of TriLUG may vote (we'll have a membership list, so
it's okay if you forgot your member number). If you're not a member,
the last chance to register before the meeting will be at tomorrow's
mail server seminar; I'll be there before and after the seminar and can
sign you up.

Here are the nominations for the open seat. [Note: nominations were due
Nov. 4 per the bylaws, so please don't send any more. :-) ] Nominees
are listed in random order. Nominees, if you'd like to add any
additional information about why you'd like to be elected, feel free to
respond!

=======

Elliot Peele

	Elliot is a system administrator at NC State University, where he is a
full-time student. Elliot is highly skilled at Linux and dedicated to
TriLUG. Elliot has volunteered at TriLUG installfests and helps with
the system administration duties of the TriLUG server cluster.

=======

Roy Vestal

Here are some reasons why [Roy was nominated]:
   - brings network access to just about every meeting
   - sponsors us so we can use RTI for meetings and the upcoming class
   - brought a LOT of hardware and worked at the installfest and
     the Lulu Tech Circus
   - participates enthusiastically on the mailing list and IRC

=======

Lisa C. Boyd

	Besides participating in many recent TriLUG events, and being an
enthusiastic member of the mailing list and TriLUG IRC channel, Lisa has
organized several TriLUG initiatives, including a "newbie" planning
meeting, and the upcoming introductory classes. Since Lisa is a more
recent convert to Linux, her perspective from the viewpoint of a
"newbie" would be a great addition to the Steering Committee. Lisa is
also an experienced web developer and self-professed computer geek!
Lisa should make a great addition to the team.

=======

Mark Turner

	Mark Turner has been a Linux user since 1994, having cut his teeth
(sometimes literally) on Slackware. He's since branched out into various
system administration specialties, particularly wireless and LDAP areas.
He has owned and managed Siteseers, an open-source consulting company,
since 1996. He loves to educate the public about Linux, and enjoys
answering questions.
	Mark was one of the early members of TriLUG and is happy to be an
active member once again.

=======

And we promise -- no electronic votes will be lost in this election! :-)
