[TriLUG] redhat 8 terminal session character weirdness

Hi,

I just switched from freebsd 4.7 to redhat 8.0 this weekend on my 
gateway/server.

I have one odd thing happening, I'm fairly sure someone on this list 
will be able to help.
When I'm on the box remotely on a ms-win machine via securecrt things 
like man pages display

‐
instead of
- characters, and other character replacement oddities.

I've tried changing emulation in securecrt from vt100 to the other types 
of emulation available including linux to no avail.
Is there some other terminal/TERM factor that I should be looking for?
I wasn't terribly successful on google... probably just don't know the 
right keywords.
