Your problem is that the kernel name for your new
kernel doesn't match what you put in the image field
in the lilo.conf file.

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-3custom-greg

/boot/vmlinux-2.4.18-3custom-greg

See the problem? (Of course you may just have made a
typo when you wrote this mail)...
