In an article on Forbes.com, the META Group is making a bold prediction.
They're suggesting that by late 2004, Microsoft will begin moving some of
its current applications to the Linux platform. What would motivate
Microsoft to take such a step? According to META:

Linux will be used on nearly half of new servers by 2007, up from its
current share of 15 to 20 percent, making it difficult for Microsoft to
ignore Linux as a platform for its database, Web hosting and e-mail server
applications.
Microsoft flatly denied the prediction, stopping just short of referring to
suspended water blocks in Abbadon.
