Really?  My experience says the opposite.  I've never had
any trouble with my netgear router that I couldn't explain
as something being mixed up somewhere else.

As much as I like linux, there is something to be said for just
plugging it in and having it work right away.  Router boxes 
will do that, while linux won't (yet).
