Actually, are you sure it's postfix?  Most linux installations these
days use procmail as the local delivery agent.  That's what postfix
would be giving the message to and it would write to the file.  
Since you said imap had no problem with it, I would look to your
local delivery agent. (And if you find out anything, please post
it here.)
