[TriLUG] IDE for C

Rich,

While it's not necessarily inexpensive ($300/seat), I've found that Visual
SlickEdit is spectacular. We had them do a presentation for us one night at
TriLUG, if you might have missed it. I believe they even gave us a
membership discount, although it may have been for a limited time. I use VS
for Perl, mostly, but it has some spectacular features for C, C++, C#, HTML,
XML, VB, Unicode, Cobol, and Java, as well as a variety of other languages.
The 7.0 version is magnificent, and there are versions for Linux (x86 and
IBM zSeries), Windows, Sparc Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and IRIX. It includes
version management support, and vi, emacs, Code Warrior, ISPF, Epsilon, and
Visual C++ emulation, among others. Check it out at
http://www.slickedit.com. I think that the price tag, while a tad high,
will be worth it to you in the long run. There is a trial version
available, so you have nothing to lose to just try it.

Regards,
Ben Pitzer
