changed /etc/hosts from:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.2 REDHAT1.canismajor.org REDHAT1
to:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.2 canismajor.org REDHAT1
and it seems to have resolved the problem.
