Which distribution? For Red Hat Linux, Mandrake, and Debian, it's mostly a
question of getting the right packages installed.

For Red Hat Linux (and possibly Mandrake), you'll need :

httpd
php
mysql
mysql-server (if you're going to run MySQL locally)
php-mysql

If all of these packages are installed, and mysql is running, it should
"just work."
