[TriLUG] anyone want a freevo system?

I can't help directly with the DirecTV issue, but I have been using a 
port of Freevo (Freevix) for my Mini-ITX system. From what I understand 
Freevo is just a front end to other applications. The TV recording 
feature is just the mplayer encoder. The TV guide using xmltv, so you 
should be able to get your schedule. You would be recording everything 
through the Video inputs (i.e. no tuner).

 From what I can tell the MythTV seems to be more focused on TV 
recording/playback. Which is fine with me because I am trying to build 
a diskless remote media player that gets all its data from another 
server. I hope to have a couple TV cards in the server recording shows 
for viewing on the media player.

Lastly if you are looking for high quality viewing you should check out 
"tvtime". It is a similar application to dScaler (Windows). dScaler is 
used in many home theaters for watching TV on projectors/big screen TVs.
