Actually...

I use set up to use the proxy from my company, and about 3/4 of the time
there were no issues.  Only once in two months did it keep me from
getting out.

Very true, and I suspect that you'd have to disable your proxy
temporarily to login, because the setup I used didn't allow connections
out on any other port until you'd authenticated.
