The money paid to Mandrake is well spent on the installer and success rate on 
_many_ different systems and it's more out-of-the-box friendly to peripheral 
gizmos.  The short time I spent on Mandrake was extremely positive until I 
got to updating and upgrading which is where Debian leads the pack.  I gather 
from comments on this list that the update/upgrade process is managable now.  
(Is it fee based?)

If you spend much time hacking the init scripts (process ID 1) then you might 
see major differences between RH and Mdk.  Sys V init <> Sys V init in 
different distros.
