- From KDE press ALT + F2 keys. You will get the KDE-Run application launcher.
Write "xterm" and you will get a terminal.

To launch a program from a terminal, just write the name of the program and
press enter.

For example, to change to superuser (root) type "su - " with no quotes (the
hyphen is important). You will be asked for the password. Enter the
administrator's (root) password.

To restore your menus, as root, type "update-menus -v " . This will bring back
your menu entries.

To launch the Mandrake Control Center, as administrator user (root), type
"drakconf" and press enter. You will get the GUI. You know how to use it.

To get a list of installed programs (any user can do this) type:
"rpm -qa | sort | less". This will give you a sorted list of all the installed
packages in your system.

Here you have a Mandrake Guide on how to sue the command line:
http://doc.mandrakelinux.com/MandrakeLinux/91/en/Command-Line.html/

And here is the same guide in PDF version:

As I told you before, this is a known bug that should be solved with the
"update-menus -v " comamnd.

When / If they disappear, do the "update-menus -v" again.
