I'm not much of a gamer, but I like bzflag -- see http://www.bzflag.org/
. It's a mutliplayer FPS where you drive around tanks and pick up flags
which enable weapons or capabilities. Pretty simple concept, yet fun.
We have a bzflag server running at bzflag.trilug.org. We also have the
bot on the IRC channel set up to see statitics on who's playing, so you
can see if a game is going on. Just ask Tribot for "bzstats". IRC is
also a good way of drumming up players (irc.trilug.org, channel
#trilug).
