Hi Dan,

Depending on your terminal window colors, you may find the related 
attribute "set background=light/dark" to be useful.

It determines the colors used for highlighted text based on the 
background color.

If it's set to "light" and you have a dark background, the highlighted 
text will be nearly unreadable.
