Hi Jay,

Between other tasks, I installed RHEL AS v3 on a dual Opteron system
today. My observations:

 good:
  - As others mentioned, RHEL v3 is supposed to be built mostly
from the RH 9 sources and it certainly looks/feels that way.

  - I haven't had a lot of time to poke around but stuff seems
      to work as it should.

 not so good:
  - Can't get the two on-board "Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5704
tpoGigabit Ethernet" network chips to work (added an
entry to bugzilla) but could get a cheap-o Realtek
RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ NIC to work just fine.

  - The graphical install crashed repeatedly when starting X,
so I switched to a text install and it worked. I had
limited time so I didn't fuss with it. Following the
install, X worked without any problems.

Ed
