[TriLUG] Apache and PHP

Hey,

I am having another problem with Apache and PHP.

I downloaded the latest versions of Apache and PHP over the weekend. I did
a configure, make and make install on apache, then PHP.

This created /usr/local/apache2 and usr/local/lib/php on my machine which
I expected.

However when I try apachectl start or stop I am not starting apache2.

I am actually starting another version of apache in /etc/httpd

I know this because I don't get php support in my pages and because if I
rename /etc/httpd/httpd.conf to httpd.conf.old I get an error trying to
start apache that says the file doesn't exist.

I am running RH8 which I installed fresh before doing the apache or php
installs.

My question is, how do I tell my linux install which apache server to use.
When I did my Linux install I specifically made sure that none of the
servers were installed. However it looks like it still copied the files.

Thanks for any help,

Shawn
