If you look in the same directory that mkfs is in you'll see a bunch
of files like mkfs.ext2, mkfs.ext3, mkfs.msdos, mkfs.vfat, etc...
It is my understanding that all mkfs does is calls the appropriate
version of mkfs based on the -t filetype parameter.  mke2fs should
be exactly the same as mkfs.ext2 and mkfs.ext3.  Looking on my
system it looks like they are the same file (same size, although, they don't
appear to be hard linked).
