[TriLUG] Somewhat OT: Help Desk / Asset Management Packages

I can give some neutral-to-somewhat-negative feedback on phpgroupware up
through version 0.14...
It works....okay. However, there are some definite shortcomings. At last
check (which, note, was over 8 months ago), the e-mail interface was a
little shaky (one noteworthy issue was a lack of an "empty trash" button,
meaning users with cluttered trash folders were forced to delete trash
messages one pageful at a time [20 messages/page iirc]). Certain
administrative functions within the Time Tracker applet (such as changing
certain client details) could only be performed by directly editing the
database; the applet simply didn't allow for certain situations.
Personally, I found the controls for setting users' calendar event
visibility (i.e. is an event visible to other users?) somewhat confusing.

On the other hand, it is quite handy for tying groupware functions into a
mostly-platform-independent interface that doesn't depend on anything more
than a web-browser.

Cheers,
~Brian Henning
