[TriLUG] bulk lan supplies

Yeah! I just priced some. But I'd have to figure out how much extra
it would add overall to a project depending on how much I used.

My paranoia comes from a friend who had his own company back
in the early 90s. He had a contract to run ethernet cat5 along with
some single mode fiber. He figured it was good money so he
big and won. Well, once the inspector arrived the day before the
place opened he said "all these tie wraps have to go and be replaced
with plenum". Ouch. He called me, along with everyone else he knew,
to burn the midnight oil to replace them all but the shopping center had
to open two days late because of it.

He got sued by everyone. His business was trashed. Anyway, that
experience kind of soured me against using regular cat5 when even
if I "knew" I could get by without it. I suppose it would depend on
how many drops I would be running.

I need a class in terminating fiber optics. Multimode as well as
single mode. Anyone know a local school that teaches such
a class?
