[TriLUG] wacky server behavior

I'm really piqued by the Ctrl key thing. Is pressing Ctrl a particular
hotkey that I just don't know about (entirely likely)? Otherwise, why Ctrl?
What does pressing Ctrl do that one might be able to automate, if another
solution fails to present itself?
