This is off topic, but I thought a little good news for techies might be
worth sharing.

I just saw my company's Q3 results, and though I knew the numbers would be
good I had no idea they would be THIS good.
we have not seen anything like this since the peak of the tech bubble in 99.

I get the feeling that things right here in the triangle are slow, since I
still see postings from time to time from folks who are out of work, but I
take this as a very good sign for our industry.  The numbers we get back
from student surveys show that a significant number of students are taking a
class in conjunction with a major IT initiative in their company.  A close
second is training for new hires.

I have now idea how salaries compare to those of the .com period (I know I
make less than I used to) but I'm really encouraged by the numbers we're
seeing coming for training.
