I think Shane was pointing out that the "recruiting" effort started
about the time of their IPO. I used quotes, like Shane did, because
the point is that it is probably more of a PR effort than an actual
recruiting push. Google was about to IPO. Anything that makes the
company look better can push up the stock price. There are many
regulations about what a company can say and do before an IPO.
However, I doubt that the regs prevent a company from recruiting. What
better way to put out a little positive PR than under the guise of a
recruiting program.
