Here is the script I found to do this on the Mac
http://webllama.net/tivo/tivo2dvd.pl

Since all the tools are command line I am sure you can get it to work 
under Linux if you can get all the external tools or similar for Linux.

Thanks said it doesn't work as nice as a DVD gui authoring tool.
