I am pleased to convey to you the announcement of the release of BZFlag
2.0.0. This release is a major rework of BZFlag, featuring new graphics,
new flags, and many other new features.

This release also takes the community aspects of BZFlag to a new level.
Public servers on the Internet now take a global login. Register once, have
your callsign everywhere. This login is based on the BZFlag forums at
http://my.bzflag.org/bb/ These forums also contain tons of valuable
information about new features and servers. All this from an award winning
game that has over 1 million downloads. Who would have imagined an open
source game with the following like that of those crazy MMORPG's you see?

Because the new version contains so many new features, previous versions of
the client will not work on the new servers. It would be a good idea to
upgrade sooner than later. http://www.bzflag.org/

* TriLUG specific info *

The TriLUG server has now been upgraded to 2.0.0. As such, you'll need to
upgrade as mentioned above.

The bzstats code on the IRC bot has been upgraded to speak the new protocol.
It has also been rewritten to be faster and produce more concise output.
Thanks to Ben Reed (RangerRick) for helping me learn the obfuscated ways of
Perl, David Rasch (berli) for modularizing the code for use in the bot, Ian
Meyer (admiralfrijole) for helping with the testing, and the awesome people
who run the TriLUG servers (sys at trilug.org). A fine example of how this
goes beyond just blowing stuff up :)

I hope you'll stop by for a round of BZ soon on bzflag.trilug.org:5154
